The Billboard Hot 100 has tracked the most popular songs in the U.S. since 1958, compiled from weekly from sales, radio airplay, and (starting in 2005) streaming data. The Hot 100 is popular music's analog to the box office or Nielsen ratings; ostensibly, these are the songs Americans spent the most money and time listening to. In the past decade (that's January 1, 2004 to Sept. 30, 2014; updates are announced every Wednesday), 141 songs have reached the coveted summit of the Hot 100. All of them, ranked worst to best.
